Shoebox Express began as a small not-for-profit initiative 10 years ago at Formby Methodist Church. Since 2007 we have been actively growing the project, chipping away at barriers to participation and gaining the support of our local communities. In 2017 we had a hand in the production of 1306 Christmas shoeboxes for children in need across Europe, Central Asia and Africa. At the end of 2017 we became an officially-recognised charity.
Our aim is to maximise the number of Christmas shoeboxes produced by making the process simple, fun and inexpensive for those in our local community. News about Shoebox Express is spreading - in 2017 we had visitors from as far afield as North Wales!
Shoebox Express is registered with the Charity Commission for England & Wales (charity number 1176464).
We want you to know where your money goes: school stationery, toiletries, toys, games, sweets, hats, gloves, glue, Christmas wrapping paper and international shipping. Every penny we receive from donors or subscribers goes into making and delivering Christmas shoeboxes. Everyone involved in Shoebox Express is a volunteer, there are no salaries to pay. The Trustees cover for everything else from thier own pockets, including printing, insurance, office equipment, office supplies, local transport and internet access.
